Chapter 5e Fel's Epic Hunt of Tylanth
12-02-2012, 04:15 AM
Fel turned to his wife of the last decade, gave her a gentle hug and a sound kiss. "I really better go, he is going to be heading for his new body, I would like to beat him to it if at all possible."
Returning the sound kiss and adding a a fervent hug. Mira then nodded. "I'm glad that I did too."
At his words of him needing to depart Mira nodded once more.
"Aye that you do need to go, as do I. I'm glad you love the gift I made for you." she said with a smile.
Rising up from where she had been sitting, Mira helped Fel break camp and then walked him to where the headhunter was waiting. She touched her chest where her heart was beating rapidly, then his chest where his heart was beating.
"My heart to your heart. My mind to your mind" touching their temples then caressing his cheek, my soul to your soul."
One more kiss, one more embrace then Mira moved back to allow Fel to complete his preparations.
Fel once more checked over the little ship, it would be a long ride to where ever he was going but it would be even longer if something broke down on the way. Once that was done to his satisfaction he stepped up to the cockpit and pause to look overhead at the sky, as if he could see straight out into space, then around the camp, noting he was not the only one departing.
The sky was blue with a few clouds, that had some tints of pink to them it; was beautiful and Mira memorized the scene and her husband by the Headhunter.
She started to chuckle, a grin spreading from ear to ear, it was an appropriate ship for what Fel was going to do. He was on the hunt and she knew that the person he was hunting for was in trouble. She remembered a hunt many years back...
"I love you, Fel, until we meet again my love, my husband!" she called out to him.
He smiled and raised a hand to her, "and I you. I shall return as soon as I can."
He stepped the last step up and then over the edge and into the pilot's seat. Strapping in he warmed the engines then checking she was clear of the blast area he waved one last time before hitting the anti-gravity and lifting off. He switched over to forward movement as soon as the little ship was clear of the trees.
Mira would watch until he left, then she will leave as well on her own path.
Fel made orbit and held it a little longer then needed, this was a place of security for them, but he had to go back out into the mess, there was a dark Jedi that had to be slain or he would make Anikin Skywalker look like a Padawan.
Clear of the planet Fel shut down the unnecessary systems, letting the Headhunter ghost silently along as he tapped deep into the force, it would tell him where he was going. His hand reached out to the hyperdrive console and his fingers slowly but confidently tapped in coordinates. When the force was satisfied he reached out to the lever that would initiate the jump. The stars streaked out around the Headhunter then it was gone.
As the tunnel of stars came to an end Fel looked at the star system, he didn't know this one, another back water system no doubt, Tylinth Mardey had preferred to work in backward systems, then he looked even more like a god to the locals.
Fel looked over his scanners but found nothing that called to him. So he closed his eyes and let the force tell him were he needed to go.
The electronic braying of the alarms told him he had drifted into the gravity well... his eyes opened and he corrected a yawl of the little fighter that would have torn her to confetti in the upper atmosphere if he had left it unchecked. How did he get this close to the planet already, he looked at the time display, he had lost nearly thirty minutes. As he corrected his speed and angle of descent he felt the pressure again, to close his eyes, to rest for just a little while. It felt like such a good idea, he was so tired, his eyelids were so heavy.
They started to close again and he fought to keep them open, to keep himself alert, this was an attack using the force, and he blocked it out with the force, but the manipulator was very strong, and had been in his mind before. Fel gave over the power of Fluffy to his fight, sending him against his attacker. The Krayt Dragon burst into his attackers mind with all the subtlety of a ten meter... well dragon. The pressure on Fel's mind was gone, with the faintest scream, a female scream.
Fluffy guided him, his hold on the Krayt Dragon like a long leash, a guiding line to the place on the ground. As the Headhunter landed and it's engines cycled down a woman came out of the underbrush. She was dressed in robes of water silk and blood red, the lightsaber at her belt was of a strange design, bent in the middle almost like a boomerang, a throwing stick of the primitive planet Sergelen that would come back when thrown... that is if it didn't hit it's target.
Fel mentally tugged the leash of Fluffy and the woman staggered. "Get out of her Fluffy!" He commanded in a gruff voice and the woman fell limp to the ground as the large dragon left her mind and once again roamed free. Fel knew she was dead, her mind burned out by the Krayt Dragon that had followed her attack from Fel to herself, Fluffy had entered her mind by the same force channel she had opened and had... consumed her. This was the dark side of the force, and Fel well knew it, he would do it again if he had to, but Fluffy had not become ten meters long by just growing up. He had grown two meters the last time Fel and Tylanth had met, Fel wondered how big he would be when he, Fel, was done with this task... that is, if this wasn't the time the Dark Jedi killed him.
The woman was dead, but Fluffy as a human left clear tracks on the ground and so Fel and his pet dragon followed them back to the location of her abode. It was a modest place, small but neat and clean. She had been here a long time, everything about the house said one person had lived here by themselves, happy to be here and in no hurry to leave. But what was she? Why did the force lead him here?
As Fel went through the house Fluffy and therefore Fel's mind, walked around the house, checking the outside, watching for others, trying to find out more.
After a long through search Fel decided there was no more. What she was would remain a mystery, why she was here would be forever lost. One of those times when keeping your attacker alive rather then consuming them with a large Krayt Dragon was probably the better choice.
Damn.
Fel returned to the body of the woman, she was not as young as he first thought, but not old, not as old as he himself. He removed the lightsaber from her belt, never leave a saber behind for souvenir hunters. He could not use it, he dared not try it. Not only was it hers, made by her, for her, with her aura and force print on it, but also it was so oddly shaped he would probably cut off his left ear if he even tried it out.
The powercell was built into it, as a whole. Removing it would destroy the unity of the weapon, destroying the force bond she had built into it. He did it and with a little will of force himself destroyed the harmony of the weapon's components. He then stored it in his kit bag and prepped the ship for launch. He would not leave yet, but to camp by a dead body and her house was a bad idea.
Fel found want he wanted five hundred klicks away, a small dell where a creek was running thought one side, there was room for his ship and camp together, no town or city nearby, or any other sign of habitation for that mater.
Using the force he convinced a large fish or two to swallow his empty hook and had fresh fish for supper. He had a small camp, nothing to draw attention to himself. Tonight he would rest, sleep deeply and dream, probably of his own death, but he would take the night to stretch and relax, tomorrow would be another thing, he had to be ready for it.
As the sun rose in the morning Fel stood in the middle of the clearing, well away from the ship and camp, and away from the water too. Radiating peace and love to a large wild herbivore, it came closer to him, it's doe eyes looking at him with acceptance and the feeling of safety. That safety ended when the snap/hiss of his lightsaber appearing but the animal never even had the chance to move before it's head hit the ground and the body jumped sideways. Fel would have meat for a few days on this kill and he hoped he would not be here longer then that. He had seen edible greens growing by the water and even in it. Ration packs would keep you alive but sometimes the small things in life, like real meat and greens was something to relish, and the berries in the bushes nearby would be a good desert too.
Once the butchery was done, the meat preserved and the offal cleaned up and removed to a safe distance it was time.
This was dangerous for Fel, he had no one to watch out for him. Fluffy could not be there to take care of him, and Fel himself would not be there either... well, his body would be. He climbed into the Headhunter and closed the cockpit, that would give him some safety from predatory animals, and maybe a human or other being that decided to kill the guy that was not moving or trying to defend himself.
Fel started with his breathing. Slow, steady, taking deep cleansing breaths, slowly, deeply. Next the heart, slow it down, steady it too, he emptied his mind, relaxed his body in the pilot seat. His eyes were closed and he let go of all that was physical...
Pain, there was so much pain. He had been hurt, he had been hurt badly. But he still had a lightsaber, a sunshine yellow blade was shining from his fist. The dark figure, silhouetted by the sun was standing on a hill above him with a blade of jade green, it was laughing, not a human laugh at all, something much darker, deeper. But Fel could not tell the gender. The voice was to deep, not human, the body shrouded by a black cloak. The green lightsaber was held away from the body like the person knew he wanted to see their face and didn't want him that glimpse. Fel moved, the wrath moved. Fel felt the slice in his midriff as just a small thing, he knew it was not, he knew it was a death blow, he was dying, and that he had not returned the blow, the wrath was alive and still out there on the hunt... and he, Fel, was dead.
With an effort Fel pushed past that, it was a future, one of many, all ended the same, a dark Jedi killing him, and he not being able to return the favor. Fel knew how he was going to die, just not when.
Bonds, he looked for bonds in the force. He found Fluffy of course, and Mira, his Mira. His wife, his lover, a secret they never shared with the rest of the Jedi. But Fel was bonded with more then just Mira. There was some serious bonds you make whenever you touch another mind. Some light, some fleeting, some lasting forever. Deep hardrock bonds, your mind and theirs connected by the force.
Fel followed the lines, each one to someone different, some brought the smile to his face, some a sad countenance, one brought tears, Cathleen Fairall, she was dead, this many years dead, but Fel still had a bond to her, the thin mental thread traced back to her point of death. He had taken care of her killers, and he still carried her lightsaber as a back up to his own, but that bond, his first padawan was still there, still strong.
But that was not the strand he was looking for. There was an evil, one he entrapped instead of killing, one he tore from his wife's mind and imprisoned in a ring. A dark Jedi of such power that he was not just a Jedi but a wizard. And Fel had trapped him in a ring, kept him safe from the wrath of Mira while they traveled across a planet to the only space port, and then on a slow freighter home.
Fel had been the one to lay this monster to rest in the tombs of the Jedi temple, safely locked away till Anakin laid waste to the temple, it's guardians, and some fool freed Tylanth. Fel had hoped it had been Anakin who had freed him, so that one of them would have destroyed the other, but no, someone else had done it. So here was Fel, hunting down evil in order to destroy it before it could rejoin it's own flesh.
He finally found the right strand, a dark one indeed, he should have guessed. Tracking it back to it's source Fel found what he needed. The woman that he had killed was just to block his efforts, anyone's efforts to find the beast. She was to draw them off and kill them, sucks to be her.
Fel knew where to go, he didn't have much time left to get there, Tylanth was almost there already. It was time to return to himself.
He opened his eyes, the sun was behind him... wait, it had been behind him when he went into this trance, but lower. He looked at the time/date display, it was thirty minutes before he went into the trance... he looked at the date, he had been there for a full day, he had lost a whole day in this. But, he knew where he would be going. He tapped in the coordinates to the astrogation computer module before popping the hatch to get out. He would eat, sleep, and get ready for a long trip before he launched...
